Mrs Flying Scotsman is Anne Obree’s autobiography of her life before and with her husband, Graeme Obree, the Flying Scotsman after he became the best cyclist in the world. This book documents the highs and lows of our life together plus the effect his mental health issues had on us as we tried to deal with his alcohol problem and suicide attempts before he came out as gay in 2008 which ended our marriage. I am honest about my part as I struggled to cope with the stress of it all. These are never before told insights into the man as well as the athlete as he battled his own private hell from his childhood traumas.
The book although sad in many areas gives the reader hope that life can go on and with the help of others we managed to move past the pain to heal our family.
